High seed Carlos Alcaraz faces Brazilian teenager Joao Fonseca on Friday in a blockbuster second-round match on the Miami Open presented by Itau. The pair’s first Lexus ATP Head2Head assembly will start not earlier than 7 p.m. native time.
Alcaraz, the World No. 1 within the PIF ATP Rankings, arrives in south Florida with a 16-1 season document, in accordance with the Infosys ATP Win/Loss Index. Fonseca, 19, is among the fastest-rising stars on the ATP Tour and the World No. 39 will now get his first crack on the 26-time tour-level titlist Alcaraz. Fonseca downed Fabian Marozsan 6-4, 3-6, 6-2 within the first spherical Thursday. Champion in Buenos Aires and Basel in 2025, Fonseca pushed Jannik Sinner in two tight units final week on the BNP Paribas Open. Sinner went on to win the title.
Now, the tennis world’s keen look ahead to the primary Alcaraz-Fonseca showdown will quickly be over. The duo begins Friday’s night session at Laborious Rock Stadium.
